Easy to put together even tho’ no instruction sheet. I like the way it holds the canvas firmly.

I am using this frame to help support my cross-stitch projects. It was easy to assemble and appears to be quite sturdy.

The frame is useful for my purposes: embroidering a piece that is larger in length, but not necessarily proportionately as wide, without having to waste a lot of extra fabric on the sides by using a round hoop. A smaller-sized round hoop would cause creases and would be impractical for the particular stitch being used to fill the figure in question (split stitch).I like being able to have both hands free with the use of the stand. It allows me to use one hand to lay the stitches as I pull the floss. The wood is substantial, not flimsy. It's also nice being able to tilt the frame at different angles while working.I do have two quibbles with the design of the item, though. The first being that the harware included to keep the rollers tight do loosen between sessions. I have to re-stretch the ground taut before resuming stitching, because the nuts loosen from the tension after a few hours. Not a big deal, and could probably be fixed by going to the hardware store to get new nuts and bolts that are better quality or some thread-lock to make the bolt threads grippier. Over time, if you're working on a very long-term project, I could see the hardware eventually stripping from repeated re-tightening, if you'll be working on it a little every day.The other issue is that the base of the stand that I received was made with a board that had warped. It bows slightly, and so if it is placed on a hard surface, it will not sit flat, it will rock. That's a much bigger problem, since the stand is supposed to hold the frame steady. It doesn't render it unusable, I just have to prop up one corner with a bit of cardboard. More a nuissance than anything. I won't complain too much at the price point at which I purchased it. But it would have been nice to have had one with a a base that hadn't been bowed. It's probably only an issue with some stands, if they've sat in warehouse storage a good while before moving. All in all, though, a useful tool and one I would still recommend getting if it fits the need.
