Ich habe seit 4 Jahren eine Hunter Hydrawise HC12 im Einsatz und kann mittlerweile nur jedem von diesem Produkt abraten: Auch wenn der Hersteller etwas anderes behauptet - mit „smart“ hat diese Bewässerungssteuerung überhaupt nichts zu tun. Dementsprechend schlecht ist auch deren Zuverlässigkeit.Der einzige Bewässerungsmodus, der zuverlässig funktioniert, ist der Modus „Zeitabhängig“: Im Prinzip eine dumme Zeitschaltuhr mit nur sehr rudimentärer Berücksichtigung der Temperaturen und der Evaporation.Der Modus „Smart (ET)“ macht, was er will. Egal was man einstellt, es wird immer bewässert - selbst wenn es geregnet hat, gerade regnet oder hohe Niederschlagsmengen mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit vorhergesagt wird. Dieser Modus ist völlig unbrauchbar.Es bleibt noch der Modus „Virtueller Solar Sync“. Bei diesem habe ich einige Zeit geglaubt, er funktioniert zuverlässig. Bis ich mich darüber gewundert habe, warum mitten in einer Hitzewelle die Bewässerung für mehrere Tage ausgesetzt wird: Ich habe als einzige Datenquelle die Wetterstation mit Weather-Underground-Anbindung auf meinem Grundstück ausgewählt. Auch wenn ich die virtuelle Wetterstation für meinen Standort nicht als Datenquelle auswähle, wird sie trotzdem für eine Mischkalkulation der Daten herangezogen - laut Support-Hotline ist es nicht möglich, das zu ändern! Die virtuelle WS hat für meinen Standort 11mm Regen errechnet, tatsächlich hat es aber nichts geregnet - und die Bewässerung wird trotzdem ausgesetzt. Auf so einen Schwachsinn muss man als Nutzer erst mal draufkommen. Damit ist auch dieser Modus nicht zuverlässig einsetzbar.Hunter sind die Probleme, über die sich auch viele andere Nutzer in diversen Foren beklagen, leider völlig egal. Es ist halt so. Hauptsache, das Ding ist verkauft. Mein Fazit lautet also: FINGER WEG!

Go with rainmachine. This was uterly useless. Bad integration with smart hubs and they require extra money to pick a water station close to you. Also, no way to know which sprinkler is on and when the scheduled watering schedule is coming or being cancelled. There is just no data which is key for anything that is labelled "smart". Hunter basically bought out a smart sprinkler company and stiffled their growth.

Great product so far. Electronics installed and it seems to work correctly so far. I don't use the weather reports. I just use the ability to control the unit with wifi. Setting up the zones and schedules so far has been easy and much easier than the old Hunter sprinkler control box I had before.But, boy oh boy, whoever designed the HC unit clearly has never installed a sprinkler controller box himself/herself/themselves. Issues:1. Cutting out the plastic to insert the wires is a nightmare. I had to use multiple power tools to cut out the plastic.2. There is hardly any space inside the unit to push the wires through. This makes it very time-consuming to get the wires inserted into the right places. Also, you have to first connect the wires and then attach the unit to the wall, which wasn't the case with the older Hunter sprinkler control box.3. There is hardly any space for the wires to be inside the unit. The older Hunter sprinkler controller had enough space so you could simply bring all the wiring inside the unit instead of creating a mess outside of it (see picture).4. Because the wiring can come from the backside, screwing in the unit to the wall is also difficult. I am afraid to cut the wires if I screwed in the unit too hard.This unit construction needs serious rethinking. Hopefully, future versions will have Hunter's old controller box with the new electronics.

This replaced a Hunter pro c unit. Installation was fairly easy I just mounted the new unit on the outer cover of the old unit, that made access to the switching wires and power easy. Regrettably the first unit I purchased had a defective power supply. I called Hunter direct and after a few short email exchanges I had a replacement power supply delivered no charge. While waiting for the new power supply I was able to continue watering by using the power from the old unit. Having access to the device on my tablet and phone means I can make changes easily and optimize my watering, something I was loathe to do with the old unit. My one big gripe is access to online weather. Hunter gives you free access to ONE public weather station. If you want to access more public stations or ANY private weather station INCLUDING your own, you have to "subscribe" to their $10 per month service which I think is way TOO expensive.. You can freely view the output of both public and private weather stations for FREE online but that does not create the interface to the device.

OK, You can tell from the title I'm a little angry.In a rare occurrence, I bought this device without doing a ton of research. A friend of mine recommended it, I trust him, and I'm busy, so I bought it.I did get the most important thing I wanted, which is the ability to drive my sprinklers from my phone. That works. The user interface could be better, but it doesn't stink, and it's a lot better then those manual controllers with the giant dial :)BUT... in addition to the phone control, this device had the "promise" of being able to control the watering of my lawn based on the weather for my neighborhood. If it's going to rain, the sprinklers would not run. If a storm came though, the sprinklers would not run. I was really excited about this.So one day, a small weather cell passes by, and we get a ton of rain dumped on us. Then two hours later, the sprinklers are running. Huh? So I check the app to see where it's getting the weather from. It lists all the weather stations near me, and sure enough there is one about 1/2 mile from here. That station clearly knew that a lot of rain had recently fallen, so I select that station as my "home" station. That's when they finally tell me, "Oh, if you want good weather data from nearby stations, that costs extra!" WHAT ?!?!?!? Yup., they want $65 a year to deliver what they promised, or I can keep getting my weather from some unknown regional airport not nearly close enough to my home. Well that stinks! It's a total bait-and-switch deal. Hence my anger.I am now doing some research to possibly replace this device with one of several that appear to offer the hyper-local weather without additional fees.If that local weather info isn't important to you, you can buy this device. It's decent.
