If you’ve ever dreamed of navigating treacherous deserts while laughing in the face of adversity, then Gamewright Forbidden Desert is your ticket to a mirthful and thrilling adventure! This cooperative board game is a delightful blend of strategy, teamwork, and desert drama that will keep you on your toes and rolling with laughter.First off, let’s talk about the game’s design. The vibrant multi-colored artwork is a feast for the eyes, transforming your table into a sun-soaked desert landscape that is both mesmerizing and slightly mischievous. The components are sturdy and well-crafted, from the detailed desert tiles to the nifty player pieces that make you feel like you’re truly embarking on an epic journey. The gameplay is where the real fun begins. As you and your fellow adventurers work together to survive the scorching heat and unearth the hidden treasures of the Forbidden Desert, you’ll find yourselves in the midst of a thrilling challenge. Each turn brings a new twist, and the cooperative nature of the game means that every victory feels like a team triumph, and every setback becomes a shared adventure. But here’s the whimsical twist: despite the intensity of the desert sun and the cunning sandstorms, you’ll be surprised at how much fun you can have in this arid wasteland. The game’s blend of strategy and chance ensures that no two games are ever the same, and the laughter you’ll share with your fellow explorers will make every setback feel like a minor hiccup in an otherwise glorious quest. One thing to note is that this game does not come with a complimentary camel or magical oasis—but if it did, it would make the experience even more enchanting! Instead, you’ll have to rely on your wits, teamwork, and a sprinkle of good humor to make it through the desert unscathed. In summary, Gamewright Forbidden Desert is a whimsical, cooperative adventure that will make your game nights memorable and your desert escapades unforgettable. Whether you’re strategizing with friends or working together as a family, this game offers endless fun and laughter. So gather your fellow adventurers, brace yourselves for the heat, and let the desert adventure begin!

Great game once you have it figured out ;-) We played a few games before we finally had a win but that was our own fault for not reading the rules thoroughly. Our games last about 40 minutes and we played with a 13 year old. Overall it keeps you fascinated and it as our intro to cooperative games it was a great start.

EDIT: Gamewright instantly contacted me back and they will send me new tiles in a few weeks. The game is very nice, we played two rounds yesterday. Sadly the backside of the main game tiles have imperfections (small black or white dots). Therefore you could remember the tiles and break the game.I will contact Gamewright and hope they can send us some new tiles.

This game is pretty challenging, but it is still a family cooperative enjoyable game. It is a lot of fun.

Forbidden Desert is made by Matt Leacock, who has created a whole host of fun, cooperative board games. The reason I even looked up Forbidden Desert (and the similar Forbidden Island) is because I played Pandemic. While Pandemic lacks a moving board, the rule set is somewhat similar. You get four moves per turn to perform several different actions. The goal of Forbidden Desert is for you and your friends to reassemble your broken flying machine while navigating the perils of the desert. At its simplest level, it reminds me of playing Ravensburger Labyrinth, a great game in its own right; although, that game was about messing with your opponents. Forbidden Desert, on the other hand, requires you to work together... or burn to death trying. I absolutely love the concept of moving tiles. Something about its inherent simplicity while still having a different board every play-through is enjoyable. My friends and I have been getting more and more into board games. Thanks to their variety, imagination, and sometimes strategic complexity, they're making a comeback into our get-together gaming rotation. However, I didn't buy this simply to play with my friends. Sometimes, my wife and I want to disconnect, chill, and play something off-screen. Forbidden Desert (and Island) are perfectly playable with 2 people. 3 or more ups the chaos, but the base experience is still fun with limited players.Rather than get into the mechanics, I highly recommend you Google "how to play forbidden desert." There's a great YouTube video by "Board Simple" that explains the game concept as well as mechanics in detail. I'll leave the link in the comment section below my review as well. Just click the comments link if you're so inclined.•• Conclusion ••Overall, this game is great for 3-5 players... or simply 2. The game play is elegant, and I love the shifting board, ensuring no two play-throughs are the exact same. The rules don't take long to learn, and you won't be diving into the rule book every single play-through to figure things out. I highly recommend it, especially at around the $30 mark. You could do way worse for hours upon hours of playtime.

I have Forbidden Island already and I liked it. I was looking forward to trying Forbidden Desert, but when I played Forbidden Desert, I was amazed at how much they fixed the game and made this amazing. The new mechanics really complete the core idea and while I still like Forbidden Island, it now feels incomplete compared with Forbidden Desert.
